- Show the QR code for the completed waiver to your technician upon checking in for your appointment.
- Maintain a normal hydration level (avoid testing while dehydrated or overhydrated)
- No fasting is required
- Testing can be completed before or after a workout
- Remove shoes, belts, watches, glasses, removable jewelry
- No special clothing requirements (most people test in gym clothes or work attire)
- After completing a test, a Wellness Consultant will go over your results
- 350lb weight limit other than the UT office which has a 450lb weight limit
- We are unable to test pregnant women

VO2 Max Fitness Test Preparation:

- No calories for 3-4 hours prior to your appointment
- No stimulants such as caffeine for 4 hours prior
- If you take prescription medications, please continue to do so as normal
- No nicotine for 5 hours prior
- No exercise for 12-24 hours prior
- Come to your appointment well rested (Avoid working out the day of your appointment)
- Please avoid non-prescribed medications or supplements for 24 hours prior to testing if possible
- If your doctor has warned you against performing high intensity exercise, this may not be an appropriate test for you
- Come to your appointment well rested
- If you are completing the cycling VO2 Max test, please bring your own bike that is compatible with a Wahoo Kickr Snap trainer
- If you have asthma, please bring a physician clearance document and your inhaler with you to your testing date. If either of these items are not with you, we reserve the right to refuse testing services.

Resting Metabolic Rate Testing
Your resting metabolic rate is how efficiently your body converts food into energy (often called your metabolism). Your metabolism can be affected by weight, age, body composition, hormone levels, gender, and more—making it a highly unique number that can change over time.
This makes knowing your resting metabolic rate extremely helpful whether you’re working to lose weight, achieve better athletic performance, or maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Gain the insights needed to customize your weight loss or maintenance program around your body’s specific needs.
- Screen for a slow metabolism that may explain frustrated attempts to lose weight.
- Reveal changes in your metabolism during the weight loss process to troubleshoot a frustrating plateau.
Resting Metabolic Rate Testing Preparation:

- No calories from food, fluids, or alcohol should be consumed for a minimum of 5 hours prior to your test. Best practice is to abstain from these things for 12 hours, but 5 hours is the minimum. Water is acceptable.
- No exercising 12 hours prior to your test.
- No consumption of stimulants, such as caffeine or nicotine, 8-10 hours prior to your test.
- Come well rested for your test, with 8 hours of sleep or more if possible.
- Attempt to keep a normal heart rate upon arriving for your test; take the elevator or walk very slowly up the stairs, if applicable.
- If you take a prescription medication, even if that involves food, do so as prescribed. Make note of the circumstances and retest under the same conditions for follow-up tests if needed. If medically possible, please refrain from taking thyroid and ADHD medication 48 hours prior to your test.

Bone density
- Maintain a normal hydration Level
- No fasting is required
- No metal on clothing or jewelry is allowed including things like rivets, zippers, buttons, grommets and underwire bras, etc.
- No calcium Supplements for 24-48 hours Prior to testing
- No barium, radioisotope, or contrast exams for 10-14 days prior to testing
- You may be asked to wear an exam gown during testing if your clothing contains any potential artifacts such as those listed above.
- The Bone Density Test will not include a consultation, please refer to your physician for a consultation/diagnosis.

- All instructions on how to register the kit and obtain the sample are enclosed in the kit if you are performing this test at home.
- Register the kit online at the web address indicated on the test kit. You can find the kit’s serial number on the back of the DNA kit near the barcode
- Answer the client profile questions (takes about 10-15 minutes)
- Then proceed with sample collection
- Do not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes (not even water) prior to obtaining the saliva sample
- To obtain the sample, remove the swab from the DNA Sample Tube.
- Rub the tip of the swab back and forth and up and down on the inside of ONE cheek for 60 seconds.
- Repeat the same process on the other cheek for 60 seconds
- Place the sample directly into the DNA sample tube then insert into the specimen collection bag and seal it
- Place everything into the prepaid trackable return box (the inner portion of the test kit).
- Seal securely and place it in the mail within 24 hours but ideally directly after sample collection
- We generally receive results 30-45 days after sample arrival at the lab
- Once results are received, we will email results directly to you and schedule a phone consultation if applicable to the package you purchased
